![]() So perhaps this is more of a focusrite/ASIO issue than an audacity issue? Does that sound right? Thanks again I’m suspecting this is related to the initial issue, some sort of override happening within my system. I’ve also tried restarting my computer with my scarlett unplugged, and the focusrite app is still loading on launch. All other startup apps are disabling just fine from this settings window, only the focusrite one is giving me this issue. Each time I try to disable it in the “startup apps” menu, click away from that menu, and return to it to see if it’s applied, the setting returns to being ‘on’. ![]() I’m trying to disable the focusrite app from loading on startup, but the oddest thing is happening now. I have tried rebooting before, and just tried again, no luck. If the problem still occurs after a reboot, you may need to stop the Focusrite settings app from loading on boot (and then reboot again). It looks like ASIO has grabbed exclusive access to the Scarlett. Please let me know what other possible solutions I can try! Thank you If anyone could help me, I’d be so, so grateful to you. ![]() Nothing has worked though, and I am incredibly perplexed as to why I’m getting this “invalid sample rate” message. I also tried the other most popular solutions, especially making sure my microphone is enabled for all programs, and also making sure all other recording devices are disabled in the sound menu. I can guarantee that the sample rates are matched up and are at standard rates for recording. They are both positively set to 44100 Hz, and just to double check, I also tried setting them both to 48000 Hz, to no avail. So first thing I did was the obvious, which was check the sample rate set in both Audacity and my Scarlett. (notice the message changed from “sound device” to “recording device”, I’m not sure if this is relevant at all or just arbitrary) This error message is “Error opening recording device. Unfortunately it didn’t, but upon using this newest version, it did give me a NEW error message different from the first one. Trying many different solutions, I eventually went to download 2.3.3, thinking this latest version would fix my issue. However, today I mysteriously received the same error message, and I cannot for the life of me remember what the fix I used was. Somehow I fixed this issue back that first time and was recording my computer audio perfectly fine all over again. One day a few months ago though, I had the cursed “error opening sound device” error message that I know many people have gotten before. I’ve also previously (up until today) been running 2.1.3 just because that version’s been working for me fine. I’ve had it set up so that I can just launch the program and hit record, and it’s all gravy. So the #1 reason I use audacity is so that I can record my computer’s internal audio. I have an issue that is perplexing me heavily. Back in the day, Line 6 audio was only available for recording via ASIO, via SP/DIF, or by taking the analog outputs and connecting them to your PC's AUX inputs.Hi all, I am using audacity 2.3.3 on Windows 10, and using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 as my audio interface. Your track should be available for playback. You should see sound waves in the new track as you record.ĥ. Hit the stop button to finish recording. You should see activity in the record monitoring window at the top.Ĥ. Hit the blue "pause" button again to begin recording, and party like it's 1999. Audacity should also have created a new audio track for you to record in. Hit the blue "Pause" button and then the red "record" button - Your track should now be armed, but not recording. Steps:ġ. Set the POD HD as the default device in the Windows Sound control panel on the "Recording" tab (not sure this is necessary, but I did it anyway)Ģ. In Audacity, under "Edit -> Preferences -> Devices:Ī) Set Interface -> Host: Windows DirectSoundī) Set Playback -> Device: Primary Sound DriverĬ) Set Recording -> Device: Digital Audio Interface (#-Line 6 Pod HDxxx)ģ. This isn't supposed to work, but I was able to record my POD HD and my TonePort UX2 in Audacity without using ASIO.
